I was down in Denver visiting Ed and left early afternoon to head back home in northern Colorado. I rolled into the house about wet food time for my kitties, so was feeding them and happened to catch a look outside my back window to see the landspout.
“HOLY SH!T” I exclaimed as I fumbled the last of the wet food into the bowls and dashed out to my car. Not far from my house is a dirt road that leads to a hill to which I would’ve had a good view of this from afar. Instead, I tried to get greedy, turning east to fly TOWARD it as opposed to staying north for the hill. Fortunately I had the wherewithal to snap at least ONE picture on my phone to prove I saw it.
By the time I got to Highway 60, it had dissipated to the point where I could no longer get any imagery of it. Thus, my time spent waiting for the next one was futile. I didn’t stay out too long after as the window for more spouts was closing quickly.
This was the second tornado I have viewed directly from my Weld County home, and marks the third tornado I witnessed on a storm I saw from my house.
