Started out kind of frustrating; overnighted way too far east, came back west, had spent a great deal of time trying to clear the previous day’s mud from the tires as the shaking became too much to handle at highway speeds. And a lunch stop in Clarendon proved to be a little much for the workers at the local McDonald’s as I never got lunch after a 15-minute drive-thru wait (got a refund and left).

But things perked up nicely as I got on a few decent little cells, including one along US-287 just southeast of my failed lunch stop.  I dabbled around in the vicinity of Lelia Lake, getting into a couple cores that left the ground covered in decent amounts of hail.  This storm did prompt a tornado-warning at one point, but there wasn’t a whole lot that came out of this tornadic-wise.

Feeling pretty satisfied with the previous day’s awesomeness, I was lacking a ton of motivation to make a HUGE effort today, and nabbing this little hailer certainly worked well for me.  I pointed myself to Wichita Falls where I DID get a meal, a celebratory steak dinner to toast off Saturday’s tornadoes.

After some contemplating whether to chase the next day (my reasoning for staying in Wichita Falls as opposed to getting myself back up to I-40), I decided I was good for the trip and made the 700+ mile drive back home to southern Illinois on Monday.
