NThe chase day started for me early in the afternoon in west Denver as a severe storm blew up over the foothills and moved into the western suburbs of the metro where I documented the hailer there.

Followed storm northeast out of Denver along I-76, documenting some rural flooding along CO-52 south of Roggen, Colorado.

Storm Tracer Along CO-52 As I document Flooding

As I continued up along I-76, I followed a tornadic storm on approach to Sterling, Colorado.

Tornadic Cell Approaches Sterling, Colorado

As I neared the Sterling exit, the storm produced a brief, but damaging tornado on the south side of Sterling.  I was blocked from view by the precip core and did not see the tornado, but hearing reports, I ventured into town where I documented damage to a car dealership as well as tree damage through town.

As dark fell, I wrapped up my documentation in Sterling and coasted up I-76 into Ogalalla, Nebraska where I bunked down for the night to set up for the following day’s moderate risk.
