Hunkered down in Hays this Sunday evening, gonna suffer through the Washington/Philadelphia game here this evening and will be in good shape to get positioned tomorrow. I originally was planning to head to Salina, but opted to stay here as Salina was going to be, uh, busy this evening.
Potential tomorrow is definitely there. I think the 5%-hatched SPC has out may be a bit generous, but I definitely think a couple tornadoes are definitely possible. Models are mixed in regards to instability AND timing, which of course now results in nighttime falling around 6pm, so a narrow window exists. Some models do initiate between 4-5pm, so that’s kinda the play. I am looking at the area along/south of US-400, so probably will set up near Pratt to start, likely by 3pm. We’ll see how things shake out tomorrow.
For the record, tomorrow will mark my 62nd chase log of the season, which will tie for most overall with 2023. Miles will be a couple thousand below the 2023 all-time most record after this chase concludes, but it will be equally as busy in terms of number of days.
